The inauguration of the GCC pilot Boot Camp took place at CHIREC on 27th June, 2015. Mr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman, CYIENT and Chairman, NASSCOM was the Chief Guest of the event. He spoke of the gender disparity in the field of technology and expressed his appreciation for the vision of GCC to bring social equality through technology.
GCC has planned 2-day workshops in partnership with schools in the city. Each workshop is built around an innovative theme that allows girls to align their interests with what they are learning. Workshops focus on Mobile App Development, Web Development and Hands-On Tinkering for students from Grades 8-10. GCC organised its first ever Hackathon at CHIREC on December 26th, 2015. Over 45 students from schools around Hyderabad, including 20 students from CHIREC, participated in the event. The participants engaged their logical, technical and creative skills and worked in teams to code their apps and websites. At the end of the Hackathon, they were judged by Ms. Radha Kantipdi, the chief trustee and CEO of The Taara Collective, Ms. Rekha Lahoti, CEO, Kalakriti Enterprise and the founders of The Makers of Things , Mr. Krishnateja Madamputi and Mr. Soumeet Lanka, based on the Creativity, Technicality and Usability of their project.
