For most students, exam results are remembered through numbers – a percentage, a grade, a subject they excelled in.
But behind every result sheet lives a far richer story. That story is made up of ordinary school days, difficult chapters, quiet self-doubt, extra classes after school and quiet determination to keep improving.
And it is this story that makes the IGCSE results of CHIREC’s Class of 2026 truly meaningful.
This year, CHIREC students appeared for a total of 1018 subject entries in the Cambridge IGCSE examinations. Of these, 620 entries securing A* and A grades, an impressive 61% of all subject entries, reflecting a 2.7% improvement over last year’s performance.
The school also recorded exceptional outcomes in STEM subjects. Across Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science, 382 out of 490 entries secured A* and A grades, reflecting a strong 78% success rate in these globally benchmarked subjects.
Among the cohort, 26 students secured A* and A grades across all subjects, while 7 students achieved straight A* grades. The highest individual score this year stood at an impressive 97%.
Yet, beyond these accomplishments, what stands out most is the collective journey of the cohort.
For every student celebrating a string of A*s, there was also another student quietly overcoming personal academic hurdles, improving subject by subject and discovering confidence along the way. Some students who began their journey struggling in particular areas steadily progressed through consistency, support and resilience.
And perhaps that is the true purpose of schooling.
Not simply producing high scores but helping children move forward from where they began.
At CHIREC, examinations are not seen as the end of learning, but as a moment of reflection -on preparedness, teaching excellence and a student’s readiness to engage with global academic standards. The Cambridge IGCSE programme, recognised globally for its academic rigour, offers students a platform to develop analytical thinking, subject depth and intellectual discipline that prepares them well for future academic pathways.
Behind these results stands the sustained effort of students, the guidance of teachers and the partnership of parents who supported children through every stage of the journey.
The Class of 2026 reminds us that achievement is never built overnight. It is built gradually over years of learning, encouragement and perseverance.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our students for their resilience and accomplishments and our sincere gratitude to our parent community for their continued trust. It is this partnership that sustains and strengthens the CHIREC journey, year after year.
